MFM Key callback. If you have Meetinghouse keys that you don’t need — maybe you’ve gone off a committee — please return them to the office. You can give the key directly to Ariel in the office. Or if you’re in the meetinghouse when the office is closed, you can write “keys from [your name]” on an envelope, put your key inside, and slip the envelope under the office door. There are envelopes on the meetinghouse info table.
We are still looking for volunteers for zoom hosts for Sunday programming. Training will be provided, online, on Wednesday, May 6, 7:00 PM. Contact Bill H.
Summer schedule starts soon. During the school year, Minneapolis Friends Meeting has two meetings for worship and a mid-morning program every Sunday. May 17 is the last Sunday on that schedule. Starting May 24, we’ll be on our summer schedule for Sunday programming. This includes a single 10:00 AM meeting for worship each week, alternating between unprogrammed (1st and 3rd Sundays) and semi-programmed (2nd and 4th Sundays). On the 1st Sunday of the month, stay after worship for potluck lunch from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. On the 2nd Sunday of the month after worship, we hold meeting for business from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
Last chance to fill out the website survey! Thanks to everyone who has already completed the survey. We still have received fairly few responses from new Friends and recent attenders, and would especially appreciate more insight into those perspectives, in order for the Web Design Committee to design a website that is useful and accessible to everyone. You can fill out the survey online or find a printed copy at the meetinghouse. Extended deadline: Sunday, May 3, midnight. https://bit.ly/MFMwebsurvey
Paid job opportunity: Substitute office manager. Occasionally, the office manager takes time off. The Liaison & Review Committee seeks a person within the Meeting who has a flexible schedule and is willing to cover essential duties in the office as needed. Compensation is $20/hour. Interested? Contact Rae C by Friday, May 1. The job description is on the info table.
Care and Counsel Committee facilitates pastoral care for Minneapolis Meeting members and attendees, understanding the Quaker tradition that Friends minister to each other. If you’re dealing with illness, grief, a major transition, or a stressful personal problem, we would like to be there for you. Contact committee co-clerks, John S or Ellen S. If a confidential discussion would support you as you make a decision, we will set up a clearness committee with you. Email John S to explore that opportunity. Other committee members are Mary G, Jeff N, Mary B, and Jimbo L.
The new fiscal year for Minneapolis Meeting began on April 1. This year’s approved budget is just under $139,000; $11,583 per month in contributions is needed to meet our budgeted obligations. Thank, Friends, for your financial support of the meeting. You can donate on the MFM website, find the offering boxes inside the main doors of the meetingroom, or mail a check. If you would like to set up automatic contributions to the meeting, contact John K, clerk of Stewardship and Finance Committee.
Curious about the membership process? Any attender is invited to talk about membership with a member of the Ministry and Counsel Committee or anyone who’s been around a while! It can be an informal one-on-one conversation or a more formal request for a clearness committee. Some indications that it might be time to explore membership in the Society of Friends at Minneapolis Meeting:
