After nearly 25 years of dedicated work in the meeting office, our friend Carolyn has decided to retire from her role as Meeting Coordinator. Ministry and Counsel Committee (M&C) asks individuals who feel led to share a prepared message or a reading during semi-programmed worship, to contact Lolly L. or other members of M&C. M&C is also looking for closers for both worships. Serving as a closer is a ministry of service to the meeting.
No Kings Day is a national day of action and mass mobilization. The Peace and Social Concerns committee is coordinating MFMers who plan to attend the “No Kings Day” march and rally together at the Minnesota State Capitol on June 14. Can you join a meeting to help arrange carpool and meet-up plans? The Shepherd Scholarship, created in 1977 by Roland and Zephra Shepherd, offers educational scholarships for members of a Quaker Meeting of at least five years standing, or their children. Interested adults and young adults can apply by filling out an application (available on the long table in the hall or on the website: https://minneapolisfriends.org/shepherd-scholarship-fund/.) Application deadline, June 30. Contributions update: $11,500 in monthly contributions is needed to meet this year’s budget. Contributions to general funds in April totaled $12,390; in May (sans EFTs), $8527. The Care and Counsel Committee facilitates pastoral care for Minneapolis Meeting members and attenders, understanding the Quaker tradition that Friends minister to each other. If you are dealing with illness, grief, a major transition, or a stressful personal problem, we would like to be there for you; contact committee co-clerks, John S. and Ellen S. INTEREST GROUPS / SMALLER GATHERINGS AT MINNEAPOLIS MEETING
Lectio Divina, on Tuesdays at noon, is on summer break. Conflict Soiree, on last Tuesdays at 3:30, is also on summer break.
The Deep Inner Work of Racial Justice group meets every second Tues night, 7-8:30 and is exploring and practicing the inner and outer work of direct action using Resmaa Menakem’s book The Quaking of America: An Embodied Guide to Navigating our Nation’s Upheaval and Racial Reckoning. There is a core group; visitors / newcomers are warmly welcome.
Smaller gathering schedule: Lectio Divina, on summer break; Writing Group, first Monday night; Deep Inner Work of Racial Justice Group, second Tuesday night; LGBTQ Support Group – third Wednesday night; Reading Group, fourth Tuesday night; Conflict Soiree, on summer break.

Be a part of People Camp, August 10-16 in Park Rapids! The theme will be How We WIN! Non-violent, direct action campaign planning. Author and activist, George Lakey, will be at camp to share his experiences as we investigate non-violent, direct-action campaigns and how to apply them to the work for today. People from Twin Cities Meeting invite Friends to a group called Plan for Hope that has been gathering in person and on Signal. They are holding a discussion about protesting safely on June 10, 6:30 pm at TCFM. The group is also planning draft counseling class for young people coming of age for military registration to have an alternative to military service. Kristin B. is the convener. OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WIDER COMMUNITY
Clueless Addiction: Disengaging from Racism in White and Black Churches, a Minnesota Council of Churches webinar, will be June 16, noon-1PM. Addiction to white supremacy is present in not only white but also Black churches, yet people can be as unaware of the addiction as a fish is of water. There are ways that faith communities can open their eyes and disengage from it. Hear research and analysis on this addiction, our cluelessness, and how the bodies of Christ can overcome it. The documentary film Zurawski vs Texas will be screened by AAUW (think Rae Beth C. and Sue K.)
