HOLD IN THE LIGHT
Betsy R-G and all who have dearly loved Richard F of TCFM, who died during the early morning of November 15. Memorial plans will be announced later.
Friends and family of Sydney C, who passed away on November 16. Her relative Rachel wrote to Minneapolis Friends, “I’m writing to let you know that my aunt Sydney passed away last night. She often spoke about how much the Friends Meeting in Minneapolis meant to her. The community she found with all of you was a true source of comfort and joy, and I’m very grateful for the role you played in her life.”
MFM ANNOUNCEMENTS
Support Minneapolis Friends during the FNVW Holiday Fair. Minneapolis Friends is looking for a few folks to help. If you wish to volunteer for any of these roles, click here for the volunteer schedule. Or, you can contact John K. Needs include:
EDIT: Last week’s bulletin suggested delivering postcards to mailboxes. We’ve since realized that the postal service only allows items with postage in mailboxes. Instead, please hang postcards from neighbors’ doorknobs/handles, or put it inside front doors or on porches. This is generally permitted, unless the building has a No Solicitation sign.
Care and Counsel Committee facilitates pastoral care for Minneapolis Meeting members and attendees, understanding the Quaker tradition that Friends minister to each other. If you are dealing with illness, grief, a major transition, or a stressful personal problem, we would like to be there for you. Contact committee co-clerks, John S or Ellen S. If a confidential discussion would support you as you make a decision, we will set up a clearness committee with you. Email John to explore that opportunity. Other committee members are Mary G, Jeff N, Mary B, and Jimbo L.
Remember to schedule committee meetings, events (even interest group events), and visits to the meetinghouse with the office to help avoid conflicts: 612-926-6159; office(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)minneapolisfriends.org.
Being a Zoom Host or a substitute A/V Tech is a great way to support the Meeting’s worship. Interested in being trained for either of these positions, or just finding out more? Contact Marilyn J.

The Watson Reading Group continues to meet at 7:00 PM on the fourth Tuesday night of the month — both online and in the conference room of the meetinghouse. This Tuesday, November 25, we will read a recent Friends Journal article about Quaker mystic Rufus Jones. “How Rufus Jones Recovered His Lost Radiance” explores the tension between dualities like embodiment and the mind/soul; sin and redemption; the spirit of serenity, gentleness, simplicity, tenderness and grace, that love which suffers long, and the power of sacrifice / doctrine. Newcomers as well as seasoned Friends are warmly welcome to this rich exploration. Email John for the zoom link or show up at the meetinghouse!
November 27 (hybrid). Thanks/Friends-Giving potluck. Sign up for the Friendsgiving potluck at the meetinghouse! The sign-up sheet is on the table to the left of the elevator. All are welcome to the warmth and support of this Friendly feast and worship. On Thursday, November 27, we will gather for silent worship in the meeting room at 4:00 PM, then downstairs at 4:30 PM to finish preparing delicious food that people have brought to share. At 5:00 PM, we will sing a short song, grab a plate and dig in. Feel free to bring your favorite board game for fellowship after eating. Please bring your questions to Jimbo L.
November 30 (hybrid). Introduction to the Testimonies is next Sunday’s mid-morning program at 10:15 AM. For newcomers and seasoned Friends alike, please come explore how the testimonies came to be and consider what we might be called to in the coming years. As background, Friends are encouraged to watch this QuakerSpeak video interview with Paul Buckley, “Are SPICES the Quaker Testimonies?” Click here for the video on the website for QuakerSpeak, a video project by Friends Journal). This is the start of a three-part series from Ministry and Counsel Committee; Stephen S and Carolyn V facilitating.
