“Over 40 years of handling seven dogs and living with them 24/7, depending on them for my safety, and seeing them through the seasons of their lives, while they see me through the stages of my life, I believe in a spiritual connection that forms between us. Handlers and trainers call it the ‘Bond.’ I will share my experiences over time and discuss why this is a particularly special connection between animal and human,” says Lolly Lijewski, who will present the mid-morning program today.

MFM ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lost and Found items are collected in a box in the basement outside the kitchen. Along with coats left on the coat rack, these will be donated soon. Please look for your belongings and take them by Sunday, October 19. Items remaining after 12:30 PM that Sunday will be donated. Coats and jackets will be donated to the Sanctuary Supply Depot, a mutual aid group in Minneapolis that gets basic necessities to our houseless neighbors; click here for links about Sanctuary Supply Depot.
Loaves and Fishes recap: Thanks to everybody who planned, donated and volunteered for the Loaves and Fishes meal on September 29. We were asked to prepare a meal for 450 many more than we have previously prepared food for. The Holy Rosary site served 720 meals one day last week. Peace House which offers a meal several days a week South Minneapolis closed last week due to violence, reducing food availability. Our 20 volunteers and the Loaves and Fishes staff served 490 meals! At our next meal we will provide chili with rice and cheese with a salad and fruit. This will reduce volunteer time by eliminating production time of making a burrito meal. Our next Loaves and Fishes meal is Monday, December 29. The Holy Rosary site serves meals Monday through Thursday and is always looking for volunteers.
Contributions update: First quarter contributions totaled $26,217, which is about 19% of our budget. Giving is often lighter in the summer months. We are almost on track to meet our annual budget. Thank you, Friends, for your generous financial support of the meeting. There is now a donate tab on MFM’s website (click here). If you would like to set up automatic contributions to the meeting, contact Carolyn V, clerk of Stewardship and Finance Committee.

Fall Together, an annual retreat held by MFM, is a wonderful opportunity to gather with Friends and rest, relax, renew, re-connect and relish time together in the great outdoors. This year’s retreat will be at Fish Lake Regional Park in Plymouth, MN, a beautiful setting familiar to those who have attended Fall Together in recent years. Camp Committee has made a flyer to share their exciting plans; you can find a printed copy in the meetinghouse on the hallway table. Contact Wina M with questions.

Who has lived here, been welcomed, excluded, or expelled? How have these histories shaped our present?” This project is hosted by Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Ave S, Minneapolis. The first session is Thursday, October 9 at 7:00 PM, and the series continues on Thursdays November 20, January 22, February 12, April 16, and May 14.
