TODAY’S WORSHIP AND PROGRAM
10:00 – 11:00 AM Meeting for Worship – semi-programmed (hybrid)
Meeting for worship will begin at 10:00 am with five minutes for silent reflection and prayer around the tragedy at Annunciation Church on August 27. A collection box will be available for those who wish to contribute to the Annunciation Hope and Healing Fund to help cover its expenses related to the shooting.
Cathy Nagler will then introduce the intergenerational family worship activities. The program will include collaborative group activities to choose from, including 1) singing, 2) a puppet show story, and 3) creating a construction from boxes and other gathered materials. After worship, we’ll fly kites at the neighboring park one block away.

MFM ANNOUNCEMENTS
The 2025-26 Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows are here! Read about them on QVS’ webpage about its Minneapolis program (click here). We want to offer some meals to the Fellows as they settle into new jobs, a new house, new routine, and new community. If you’re able, consider making a meal for them! There are six Fellows, and they have no dietary restrictions. Click here to sign up on Mealtrain. Also, the Fellows will be in worship and at the potluck on September 7. Please plan to come yourself and bring lots of food to welcome them and any guests that are checking out Minneapolis Meeting!
Greeting members and visitors as they enter the building for worship is a wonderful ministry of Hospitality. Welcoming and Outreach needs your support to offer this ministry. Please sign up on the Greeter sign-up sheet on the table outside the meeting room. If you have questions, please contact Mary S.
Volunteers Needed: Sometimes, but not often, we might need a volunteer to open or close the Meeting House on Sunday. Ariel and Lavender will be assuming most of the responsibility. You can do it before or after you attend Meeting! There are written directions on what to do plus Ariel will walk you through everything.
Please call 612-926-6159 or email Ariel at office(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)minneapolisfriends.org if you are willing to help. Your contribution is greatly appreciated and essential to maintaining a welcoming and functional community space. We are grateful for your generosity and commitment to our community. Call or email Rae Beth C if you have questions.
September 21 is the beginning of fall/winter/spring schedule for Sunday programming.
• Most Sundays (except 2nd Sunday of the month), there is 9:00 AM unprogrammed meeting for worship, 10:15 AM mid-morning program, and 11:15 AM semi-programmed meeting for worship.
• Second Sunday of every month, there is 9:00 AM unprogrammed meeting for worship, 9:45 am meeting for business, and 11:15 AM semi-programmed meeting for worship.
• First Sunday of every month, there is a potluck lunch after semi-programmed meeting for worship.
Contributions update: First quarter contributions totaled $26,217, which is about 19% of our budget. Giving is often lighter in the summer months. We are almost on track to meet our annual budget. Thank you, Friends, for your generous financial support of the meeting. There is now a donate tab on MFM’s website (click here). If you would like to set up automatic contributions to the meeting, contact Carolyn V, clerk of Stewardship and Finance Committee.
MFM EVENTS
You’ll notice this bulletin section is shorter than it used to be. Half a dozen groups meet monthly through MFM. Those ongoing groups are now listed on a separate flyer. Similarly, there is a flyer about Quaker events and resources beyond MFM, instead of bulletin notices. One-time MFM events will remain included in this weekly bulletin, as you see below. This change is intended to make it easier to find information, and save paper.
September 7 (in person). All-Meeting Potluck is once a month on first Sundays. In the summer, it takes place 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Linger after worship for friendly food and conversation at the potluck downstairs! New attender or seasoned member – all are welcome whether you brought anything or not! If you brought a dish, please label ingredients so everyone can participate without worry.
October 11 (in person). Fall Together, an annual retreat held by MFM, is a wonderful opportunity to gather with Friends and rest, relax, renew, re-connect and relish time together in the great outdoors. This year’s retreat will be at Fish Lake Regional Park in Plymouth, MN, a beautiful setting familiar to those who have attended Fall Together in recent years.
WIDER COMMUNITY

Jewish Voice for Peace – Twin Cities (JVP TC) is offering two teach-ins about anti-zionism and antisemitism in the context of the local campaign for the City of Minneapolis to cut its contract with Zencity, an Israeli tech company connected with Israeli military intelligence’s notorious Unit 8200. The first teach-in (Monday, September 8, 6:00 – 7:00 PM) will take place at Sabathani Community Center, 310 East 38th Street, conference room J. The second (Wednesday, September 10, 6:00 – 7:00 PM), will be at Loring Park Community Center, 1382 Willow Street, multi-purpose room. Click here for JVP TC’s announcement on Instagram.
