Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Where a life of acting, and a life in the Spirit . . . meet with John Cutler.

Ministry and Counsel Committee (M&C) asks individuals who feel led to share a prepared message or a reading during semi-programmed worship, to contact John C or other members of M&C. M&C is also looking for closers for both worships. Serving as a closer is a ministry of service to the meeting.
Legislation to establish a Truth and Healing Commission on Indian boarding schools is moving forward, but the opportunity to begin to right the historic, devastating wrong of Indigenous boarding schools will end Jan. 3. Minneapolis Meeting has approved a minute encouraging support of establishing this commission, Legislation S. 2907/H.R. 5444. The minute was sent out to the google group and will be available online when monthly meeting minutes are posted. From Friends for a NonViolent World – A huge thank you to everyone at Minneapolis Meeting who helped make this year’s Holiday Fair a success! All the donated items plus the time and talent of so many volunteers came together to create another wonderful social and fundraising event that supports FNVW’s peacebuilding and conflict transformation work in our community. There are still a few unsold Holiday Fair items available for purchase on the tables in the long hall. Today is the last day!

SMALL GROUP OPPORTUNITIES AT MINNEAPOLIS MEETING
The Right Relationship with Indigenous People group will meet this coming Monday night, Dec 12th, at 7PM. Possible agenda items: a trip to the Hocokata Ti exhibit, Mdewakaton: Dwellers of Spirit Lake; planning a mid-morning program for Jan 22; healing the trauma of Native boarding schools; and repudiating the Doctrine of Discovery. Join Lectio Divina at noon on Tuesdays. Hold a short reading from the Bible, Quaker, or other spiritual text to see if and how it might speak to us today. Rather than reading for information, in Lectio, read for insight – open to the Divine and allow the text to speak to our life and times. Followed by a time of worship sharing. The Deep Inner Work of Racial Justice group will meet this Tues, Dec 13th, via Zoom, 7-8:30PM. Email Nettie or Jimbo if you want a link to attend. This meeting is open to all to come and explore making a six-month commitment to the group to read and process together Resmaa Menakkem’s book, The Quaking of America: An Embodied Guide to Navigating Our Nations Upheaval and Racial Reckoning. Newcomers welcome! No previous experience necessary – just a desire to deal with the state of our society in an embodied way and to build an anti-racist (feeling and seeing no stranger) culture.

From the Friends Committee on National Legislation Twin Cities Advocacy Team – Bernie Saunders will introduce a Yemen War Powers Resolution to stop US support for Saudi attacks on Yemen. He is using a Senate procedure that requires a floor vote. FCNL Advocacy Teams have been lobbying for this vote all year, and this vote will be the last chance in this Congress. Friends can support the measure by calling their members of Congress. FCNL has provided a system to use for a national action this Monday: http://www.fcnl.org/ATyemencall .

American Friends Service Committee along with the InterFaith Immigration Coalition will host a teach-in webinar, A Faith Call to Solidarity Along the Asylum Journey, THIS Wed, Dec 14th, 7PM (CT). Learn about the harm caused by Title 42 and the lack of real solutions, the unique injustices facing Venezuelan asylum seekers, and how people of faith can make a difference. White Church Truths Review: The morning session of Minnesota Council of Churches’ White Church Truths featured a keynote from Dr. Michael O. Understanding Christian Nationalism Episcopal theologian Diana Butler Bass uses three of her recent essays on the topic of Christian nationalism for a study series. Find links to each essay with discussion questions, appropriate for use in a small group or other adult reflective setting.
