NEWS FOR MINNEAPOLIS MEETING FRIENDS
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Leo’s story. Hussein (Leo) Khooshan, a recent graduate of the Quaker boarding school, Scattergood, comes from Kabul, Afghanistan. He has lived and worked among Quakers for the last four years, and lived with Rick and Carolyn this past summer. He was joined by his brother, Hassan, in early August, just a week before Kabul fell to the Taliban. Leo and his brother are now living in Ottawa, aided by Ottawa Meeting. Leo and Hassan have family remaining in Kabul, targeted by the Taliban due to their ethnicity and to Leo’s schooling in the U.S. Hear Leo’s story and about the work being done by Leo and Friends in Canada and the mid-west to get his family from Kabul to safety in Canada.

Caregivers’ Support Group: if you are a caregiver for a loved one, how about joining a confidential Zoom meeting once a month, to check in and support one another? Email John (of Care and Counsel Committee) and he will get the group started.
Ministry and Counsel Committee (M&C) asks individuals who feel led to share a prepared message or a reading during semi-programmed worship, to contact Bill or other members of M&C. M&C is also looking for closers for both the 9 and 11:15AM worships. Serving as a closer is a ministry of service to the meeting.
SMALL GROUPS OPPORTUNITIES AT MINNEAPOLIS MEETING
Join Lectio Divina at 11:25AM on Wednesdays. Hold a short reading from the Bible, Quaker, or other spiritual text to see if and how it might speak to us today. Rather than reading for information, in Lectio, read for insight – open to the Divine and allow the text to speak to our life and times. Followed by a time of worship sharing. Contact Stephen for the link.
Experiment with Light groups are now open to new members. Groups meet once a month for a meditation based on early Friends’ worship. For more information regarding EwL at MFM contact Diane B.
The Deep Inner Work of Creating Racial Justice Group will meet this Tues, Dec 14, 7-9PM. This group meets on second Tuesdays of the month and is open to all members and attenders, whether you have come before or not. Contact Nettie or Jim for more.
IN THE WORLD OF FRIENDS
The Quaker Parenting Initiative, helping parents find direction and spiritual meaning in their journey with their children, as they love and live with them while seeking to nurture and guide them, hosts a weekly virtual Tea-and-Chat with Quaker Parents, Thurs, 7PM (CT). From Friends Committee on National Legislation: Advocacy Teams will next focus on ending US support for the Saudis in the war in Yemen. The UN calls the war the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, as the Saudi forces maintain a blockade of ports that supply Yemen’s fuel and food. The US continues to support the Saudis with intelligence, parts, and maintenance for their bombing campaign. Contact Jim H.
Friends Committee on National Legislation will offer Faith, Ministry, and Leadership as a Public Friend THIS Wed, Dec 15, 5:30-6:30PM (CT) What does it mean to live our faith in public? What’s the connection between Quaker leadership and ministry? These are just some of the questions covered in the final Quaker Changemaker event of 2021, a conversation between FCNL Director of Quaker Leadership, Alicia McBride, and outgoing General Secretary, Diane Randall. There is a fee to attend.
