The Deep Inner Work of Creating Racial Justice Group will meet 7-8:30PM this Tues, July 13th. Tools and exercises from My Grandmother’s Hands: Healing Racialized Trauma in Our Heart and Bodies are used. Come share your experience with implicit bias in your racial justice work. Friends for a NonViolent World seeks a new part-time Volunteer Engagement Specialist! This dynamic role develops opportunities for volunteers to be deeply engaged in every facet of FNVW’s work. The Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for recruiting, training and supporting new FNVW volunteers and student interns, and plays a key role in planning, implementing, organizing and coordinating the volunteer and community engagement opportunities that drive FNVW’s mission forward. Come help build on the organization’s strong volunteer program and help realize its potential for growth. Job description and application here. COMMUNITY EVENTS
Healing Minnesota Stories Sacred Sites Tours: July 24, 10AM – 2PM; August 2, 1PM – 5PM, starting at St. Peter’s Church, St. Paul. Listen to the stories of the people who called Minnesota home before settlers arrived while being present at sites sacred to the Dakota people. Better understand the history of indigenous peoples whose lives still shape this state. Register here.
Minnesota Council of Churches Refugee Services is busy building up capacity as we prepare to welcome what may be our largest number of arrivals in the coming year. To help equip families arriving this summer, we are in need of new, standard-sized bed pillows, sheet sets – particularly twin size but also full and queen – electric alarm clocks, laundry detergent. Items can be dropped off in person or ordered online and shipped directly to our office.
