It’s easy to be in worship via Zoom for as long as you are able. Consider inviting the youth of the meeting to participate!
First day school for youth: Madison Meeting has invited young friends to join other Northern Yearly Meeting youth for this last week of virtual first day school. 10 – 11AM Littles & Elementary (ages 3-13) will meet together to wrap up the Peacemaker series with The Invisible Web, by Patrice Karst, a story about our connection as humanity. We’ll do finger weaving and make friendship bracelets while we review what we have learned about being a peacemaker. Class will close with centering on a finger labyrinth. Planned vocal ministry: Take the opportunity to nurture and encourage each other! If you think someone has a message for the meeting community, recommend them to Ministry and Counsel Committee or encourage them to speak with someone from M&C themselves. Likewise, if you feel you have been given a message to share, contact Bill so a Sunday may be made available to you.
Zephyra and Roland Shepherd created the Shepherd Scholarship in 1977 for the post-secondary education of Minneapolis Meeting members or children of members. Applications should be mailed to the meetinghouse or emailed to the office by June 30th.

OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT WITH MINNEAPOLIS MEETING FRIENDS

The Writing Group will meet this Mon, June 7, 7-9PM. Come for a chance to connect with each other, writing with prompts and sharing what we write. ALL INVITED, whether or not you have participated before! Contact Jane with questions or interest or for the link.
The Deep Inner Work of Creating Racial Justice Group will meet 7-8:30PM this Tues, June 8. Tools and exercises from My Grandmother’s Hands: Healing Racialized Trauma in Our Heart and Bodies are used. Come share a story about the outward racial justice work you are doing as well as examine your experience with implicit bias in your work. Last month’s assignment: “Think or write about what you are hoping or imagining you may get out of doing this work together,” will be revisited The group meets every second Tues. * Bridging the Divides meeting, Tues, June 8th from 6:30-8PM. Two evidence-based policy papers for specific training, resources, and supports that improve relations between police and the community, reduce the use of excessive force and, ultimately, save lives are now available from this initiative: Militarization of Police and De-escalation Policy and Mental Health
* The Great FNVW 40th anniversary celebration, Sat, June 26th, at the Midway Peace Park outside the FNVW office building, 393 Dunlap Str N, St. Paul, 10:30-11:30 (all ages) 11:30 – 12:30 adult only. Friends for a NonViolent World seeks an Event Planning Volunteer to help plan and implement a variety of educational events focused on bringing people together to learn more about a social justice issue. In this role, you will assist with creating agendas, identifying needed resources, and advertising. Are you led to work with Quaker youth? Want to nurture and support them as they explore their connection with God, with Quakerism, with themselves and their place in the world? Northern Yearly Meeting is searching a Middle School Coordinator to lead programming for middle school youth in NYM: two in-person retreats as well as leading the middle school program at Annual Session. During the past year, programming has been virtual. Flexibility will be critical we determine how we can move ahead in the coming year. Quaker Voluntary Service Spiritual Nurturers wanted! Would you enjoy companioning a young adult QVS Fellow through their year of service and spiritual growth? Nurturers connect with Fellows at least once each month, (Sept – July), and meet with other Nurturers for initial training and twice more for support. The local Quaker Voluntary Service program seeks a Local Coordinator.
