10:15 – 11:00 Lighting each other’s candles, we can light the world. Northern Yearly Meeting’s Becky Marty, co-clerk, and Connie Archbald, MFM’s rep. to NYM, will offer more about NYM, what is coming at the next Annual Session, and how you can be involved.

First day school for youth at 10:15: Madison Meeting has invited young friends to join other Northern Yearly Meeting youth on Sunday mornings. Teens (ages 13-18), will not meet online today.
THINGS TO KNOW
Planned vocal ministry: Take the opportunity to nurture and encourage each other! If you think someone has a message for the meeting community, recommend them to Ministry and Counsel Committee or encourage them to speak with someone from M&C themselves. Likewise, if you feel you have been given a message to share, contact Bill so a Sunday may be made available to you.
Heads up! The summer schedule will begin May 30 and end September 12th; the return to the school year schedule will begin on Sept 19th. In the summer schedule, there will be one meeting for worship at 10AM. The first and third Sundays will be unprogrammed; the second and fourth will be semi-programmed.

OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT WITH MINNEAPOLIS MEETING FRIENDS
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Nonviolence in Action – a conversation with Friends for a NonViolent World (FNVW). FNVW’s programs demonstrate the transformative power of nonviolence at the individual, community and institutional level. Come celebrate the recent accomplishments of this small, local organization, started by the Quaker community almost 40 years ago, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. Offered by Leah Robshaw Robinson, FNVW Executive Director.

The virtual launch of Watershed: Attending to Body and Earth in Distress, by Ranae Hanson will be at 7PM on Tues, May 18th. Ranae will be joined in conversation by Ruthanne Crapo Kim, Stephen Healey, and Amina Keinan; Ulla Nilsen will host the event. All are welcome. Two evidence-based policy papers for specific training, resources, and supports that improve relations between police and the community, reduce the use of excessive force and, ultimately, save lives are now available from this initiative: Militarization of Police and De-escalation Policy and Mental Health

Spirit and Community Online, offered by Friends General Conference, featured members from Yearly Meetings, Monthly Meetings, and Quaker Organizations. The panel included Peterson Toscano, Jean Marie Barch, Cai Quick, and Kat Griffith. First Friends Church in Whittier, California offers Peace Camp for children each summer (1st – 8th grade). This year, camp will gather virtually so it can include Quaker Friends from around the world for a week of sharing and fun – Mon, July 19th – Fri, July 23rd, 10 – 11:30AM (PST).
