10:15 – 11:00 John Stuart worked in the criminal justice system for forty years. He will talk about his experiences and offer his thoughts about needed change.

First day school for youth at 10:15: In order to better match first day school with student and family energy and zoom tolerance, there will be first day school / programming for youth on the first and third Sundays of the month. TODAY, older youth are encouraged to join the mid-morning program discussion about police reform. Younger youth can tune in to see the John Woolman video created last year. Winter Envelope Gift: Every winter, Minneapolis Meeting designates organization(s) or programs to receive a one-time gift, outside the Meeting’s annual budget. This year’s recipients respond to current crises in our community.
NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center Food Shelf – serving the North side of Minneapolis and people who have been particularly hard-hit by COVID, NorthPoint offers pantry items, miscellaneous nonfood items, baby food and diapers, and produce. Financial donations allow wholesale and discounted food purchases, purchases to fill holes in inventory, and fresh meat, milk and eggs purchase.
Friends for a NonViolent World’s Bridging the Divide: Policing that Works for Everyone – Bridging the Divide works to create policing that is characterized by equity, professionalism, partnership with the community, and respect for the dignity of every member of our society.

Regenerative agriculture has the potential to draw carbon from the air and put it in the ground on a planetary scale. Terry Hokenson will talk about his investigation of this promise and whether the reality is compatible with racial and social justice concerns.

Loaves and Fishes, Mon, Nov 30: Join other metro-area Friends, the Ismaili Community and the Mayim Rabim congregation to provide a nutritious meal at Holy Rosary Church in S Mpls, 2424 – 18th Ave S. The first group will prepare chili burrito, fruit, and salad (2-4:30); the second group will pack up and hand out the meals (4:45-6:30,) and clean up (5:30-7.) Fruit donations are needed as well: dropped off at Holy Rosary after 2 on Mon, or with Sue or Ann on Sun the 29th. Covid-19 has created a need for more meals to be served. There will be a first-ever Friends General Conference Youth Summit, The Quaker that Rocked the Continent Sat, Dec 12th, 12-9PM (CT) – three sessions with ninety-minute breaks in-between. Specifics tba. SAVE THE DATE
Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows have a program day twice a month where they learn about different aspects of Quakerism and living in community. Friends General Conference (FGC) is considering how to best support youth (middle and high school) and young adults in developing their spiritual gifts of clerking, decision-making, and community leadership. A loosely-structured mentorship program that connects early-growing mentees with seasoned-but-still-growing mentors is being considered. Community interest and input is being sought. The American Friends Service Committee will host an Interfaith Service in Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Sun, Nov 29th, 5PM (CT). Music, prayers, and words of inspiration from the Muslim, Christian, and Jewish traditions.

Ashes to Ashes screening and discussion Fri, Nov 13th, 6PM (CT) and Sun, Nov 15th , 3PM (CT). Winfred Rembert who lived on a plantation, joined the civil rights movement as a teen and was put to work on a chain gang, is a rare survivor of a lynching attempt. Decades later, he still carries the scars.
