First day school for youth at 10:15: In order to better match first day school with student and family energy and zoom tolerance, we will have first day school / programming for youth on the first and third Sundays of the month. There is no programming today. Next Sunday, older youth are encouraged to participate in the Northern Yearly Meeting retreat. Younger youth can tune in for the story of John Woolman with Mary Snyder.

Need a bit of relaxation? Jim is offering forty-five minutes of self massage starting at 8PM, after mid-week worship this Wed, Nov 11. Jim has been teaching this in community education since 1982 and wants to support your well-being.
Loaves and Fishes, Mon, Nov 30: Join other metro-area Friends, the Ismaili Community and the Mayim Rabim congregation to provide a nutritious meal at Holy Rosary Church in S Mpls, 2424 – 18th Ave S. The first group will prepare chili burrito, fruit, and salad (2-4:30); the second group will pack up and hand out the meals (4:45-6:30,) and clean up (5:30-7.) Fruit donations, dropped off at Holy Rosary after 2:00, are needed as well. Covid-19 has put many people out of work and school creating a need for more meals to be served. Even as there’s been an increase in the number of guests served, the number of volunteers has decreased. This activity remains a COVID transmission risk despite precautions, so please be aware of your risk. Please sign up to come if you can!
Come to a virtual poetry/fiction reading and book launch this Thurs, Nov 12th, 7PM. Brian Satrom, a local poet, will be celebrating the publication of Starting Again, his chapbook of poems. Meeting member Joanne Esser will be reading from her poetry book Humming At The Dinner Table as Brian’s guest. Also reading will be Pam Joern, an award-winning local fiction writer. American Friends Service Committee’s local Youth Undoing Institutional Racism, a youth-led program dedicated to disrupting the cradle-to-prison pipeline through education about racism, is hosting an “OK, now what?” town hall, this Tues night, 6 – 7:30PM. Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows have a program day twice a month where they learn about different aspects of Quakerism and living in community. Fuzzy Sock Drive – The Prairie and Jungle classrooms at Friends School of MN are holding a “Fuzzy Sock” Drive until Dec 4 for children and families at the Minnesota Children’s Hospital. Comfy socks are a big deal when you’re walking around on hard, cold floors! Please be sure all donated socks have grips on the bottoms — the floors at the hospital can get slippery! Scattergood Friends School is seeking a host family for Hussain from Kabul, Afghanistan. Hosts offer travel to and from school, and a home and meals during breaks (Nov 21-Feb 28; June 1-college) and authorize urgent medical care when parents are not contactable (uncommon). The Elizabeth Ann Bogert Memorial Fund for the Study and Practice of Christian Mysticism, administered by Friends World Committee for Consultation, makes annual grants of up to $1,000.
