10:15 – 11:00 Everyone is Responsible – the Child Welfare Policy and Procedures. Minneapolis Meeting is like a village, all responsible in a variety of ways, to support, nurture, and protect the children and youth among us. Come learn about the new Child Welfare Policy and Procedures document which attempts to ensure just that. Facilitated by Rae Beth Cornelius and Sigurd Hoppe

First day school teachers and those who are cleared to work with the Meeting’s youth will meet downstairs TODAY at the rise of second worship to review child welfare and protection practices.
UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
You are welcome at the potluck following second worship NEXT Sunday! To regulars – bring lots so we feel confident inviting visitors and newcomers to stay. And don’t forget to label ingredients – at the very least, to note vegan; vegetarian; gluten-free; contains peanuts. Needed: decaffeinated coffee and booster seats. Contact Rae Beth with offers.
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: New Member Welcome! Warmly welcome Carol and Tom into membership, learn who they are, and what has drawn them to become members of Minneapolis Friends Meeting. Social time to follow. Offered by the Welcoming and Outreach Committee.

Nominating Committee is at work to match Meeting needs with member / attender gifts and ministries. Needed: a Minneapolis representative to Northern Yearly Meeting. The MFM rep attends yearly meeting and interim sessions, as they can; receives NYM news and passes along items of concern or interest to monthly meeting, the office for publication in the bulletin, or to individuals who might be particularly interested. If you are curious about this role or any other in the life of the Meeting, contact a member of Nominating Committee: Debbie, Doug, Annamary, and Jim. The Nursery Committee, on behalf of the Meeting, seeks the right person to work with the little ones in the nursery. The work hours are Sundays during the school year, 8:45-12:30; and 9:45-11:15 during the summer months. The pay is $15 an hour. A MFM Writing Group will meet this Tues, Jan 28th at 7PM – a fun and informal evening, with no preparation necessary. Everyone welcome, no commitment — drop in once or come when you can. Meet at Jane and David’s home in Hopkins. For questions or directions, contact Jane.
Mary and Stephen invite Friends to their home at Kenwood Isles this Wed, Jan 29, and every Wed until March, for worship sharing at noon. Come center on a passage followed by conversation over a light lunch. Please RSVP.
Come to Joanne Esser’s book launch reading and celebration for Humming At The Dinner Table, her newly published collection of poems. This Fri, Jan 31st, 7PM, Hamline University, Giddens/Alumni Learning Center, room 100E, 1556 Hewitt Ave, St. Paul 55104. Local writers, Lore Roethke and Antonia Barlage, will be reading as well. Refreshments and book signing follow.
Save the date for the Northern Yearly Meeting Middle School Retreat, Feb 14-16th in Madison. Come for the sweetness of being with Friends – laughing, making art, playing games, getting outside, basking in Spirit, and delving into the discussion of institutionalized racism (with some climate considerations to boot!) Area Young Adult Friends are having a potluck at Matthew and Hillis’ home TONIGHT, 6PM. Vegan food, brief worship, and some sharing – who we are and what brings us to Quaker meeting. All young-adult-identifying folks are welcome, regulars to just Quaker-curious!
Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) Basic Community Workshop – Jan 31-Feb 1 (rescheduled due to weather). Interested in learning new skills and attitudes to address, prevent, and transform violence? Consider this two-day workshop offering a holistic, experiential, safe, and lively approach to learning the tools to discover your own power to transform conflict and frustration in your life. Fri, the 31st, 12-9PM and Sat, the 1st, 9AM-9PM at 393 N Dunlap St., St. Paul. Attendance both days is expected. A new, worship-based, spirit-led Northern Yearly Meeting working group is at work, looking at all the work on racism that has been done within the yearly meeting, to consider available resources, and to suggest ways forward to further the ongoing anti-racist work of the Northern Yearly Meeting faith community. The Elizabeth Ann Bogert Memorial Fund for het Study and Practice of Christian Mysticism Grants Program is soliciting proposals. Proposals and references for 2020 grants are due March 1; decisions made in May; grants distributed in June. COMMUNITY EVENTS
Every Church a Peace Church – tomorrow, Mon, Jan 27th, Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S, Mpls. Potluck at 6:30; program: The wounds of war in Afghanistan, Yemen, and Iraq. Kathy Kelly will speak about the consequences of U.S. action in recent wars and will suggest ways that U.S. people can work to prevent future suffering among people affected by U.S. weapons and wars.
Minneapolis Council of Churches Refugee Services is offering a new volunteer opportunity, enabling you to meet and support MN’s new refugee arrivals. Cultural orientation workshops, taught by a master teacher, will be offered across the Twin Cities (at four different locations.) Volunteer assistants are needed to help facilitate discussions.
