At 11:00, we will shift from meeting for worship to worship with attention to business. We invite visitors and newcomers to introduce themselves but we will not have general introductions, sharing joys and concerns, or announcements. Everyone is welcome to stay for business meeting.

NEXT SUNDAY: Help make the meetinghouse sparkle! Plan to stay and wash a couple of windows and chairs and tend to this space that creates a home for us all. Many hands will allow everyone some sunny Sunday afternoon playtime!

Would you like to have coffee with a Quaker? (It doesn’t have to be coffee.) Sign up slips are now on the elevator table. Please fill one out and place it in the coffee can. Slips will be collected weekly and you will be contacted to make arrangements.
Quaker Voluntary Service (QVS) Open House on Sun, Aug 25th, 2 – 5PM; 3241 Park Ave S, Mpls – to see the home created by area Quakers, drop off items for the pantry or welcome baskets (for basket items, bring in sets of six!) and tend to remaining sprucing tasks. QVS Mpls/St. Paul is beginning its second year with six new fellows placed in local nonprofit organization working for peace and social justice and living in a cooperative household. George Watson once stated that he read the last chapter of Testament of Devotion at least once a year. Come read that chapter together at the Watson reading group Tues, Aug 20h at 7 PM in the conference room. No need to read ahead. One-timers and regulars – everyone is welcome! We’ll also decide whether to read more of Testament or choose another title.
A new writing group has started and will next meet on Tues, Aug 27th (NOTE CORRECTED DATE) at the home of Jane – a relaxed but structured group with a focus on developing a spiritual practice through writing. Each month we’ll write and have the chance to share with each other. Everyone welcome. Contact Jane with questions or interest.
Quaker Voluntary Service request: Kirsten, the Fellow who will be working at Bridging in Roseville next year, is still trying to arrange transportation to and from work. Do you commute between south Minneapolis and the Roseville area and are willing to share a ride with Kirsten, August – July? Even one or two days a week would be incredibly helpful: MWF–either 7:30-4 or 8-4:30; T/Th any 8.5 hour span starting at 7 to 9 AM. Plan to gather and worship with hundreds of Quakers and friends committed to advocating for a more just and peaceful world at the Friends Committee on National Legislation’s annual meeting and public policy institute, Nov 13-17. Lobby to end the U.S. strategy of endless war, give input on FCNL’s legislative policy positions, and be inspired to act in the year ahead! COMMUNITY EVENTS

The Southwest Neighborhood Choir is gearing up for a new season! The choir rehearses here at the meetinghouse on Thursdays from 7-8:30 starting Sept 19. Fee is $120; scholarships are available.
