The Religious Education Committee will meet today in the lower level at 12:30.
Copies of the recently approved committee list are on the elevator table. Please take one! If the work of a committee interests you, don’t wait to be asked to serve on it; contact the committee clerk to visit a committee meeting or to share your curiosity. Many committees would welcome the interest! Ministry and Counsel Committee, Child Welfare, and Trustees have closed meetings due to confidentiality issues – but Friends are still invited to speak to those clerks to find out more!

Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Four Doors to Meeting for Worship. This Pendle Hill pamphlet, written by Bill Taber, describes ways we prepare, enter, deepen, and go beyond meeting for worship. How do you prepare for worship? What do you do in the silence? Where does it lead you? Juliet Nail, Mary Jean Port, and Bill Asch will lead discussion. Facilitated by Annette Smith of the Ministry and Counsel Committee.

What does this meeting mean to you? This is one of the queries we will explore at a listening session, sponsored by the Ministry and Counsel Committee, on May 4th from 1 to 3 pm. Your attendance is needed.
Loaves and Fishes: Monday April 22nd (please note the corrected date) is the next opportunity for MFM to help prepare and serve dinner to the people of the Phillips neighborhood at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Av. S, Mpls. Please help if you have a few hours, 2 – 7pm that day. Volunteers shifts: chopping veggies or prepping dessert fruit 2-4:30pm; serving food 4:45-6:30pm; clean up 5:30-7pm. Fresh fruit donations for dessert are needed, too. Sign-up sheet on the bulletin table.
Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric will be shown here at the meetinghouse Wed, April 24th, 7 PM. Although one’s gender identity is an intensely personal subject, the individuals featured agreed to share their stories in this two-hour National Geographic documentary on the shifting landscape of gender. Trailer at: https://binged.it/2UmozMF . A discussion of the movie will follow the screening, facilitated and informed by several of the local Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows. Jim warmly invites Friends to a worship followed by a simple meal on this Fri, April 19, Good Friday. Worship will start at 6 PM and will include a reading from Matthew 26 (the passion and death of Jesus) and two hymns.

The 2019 Friends General Conference Gathering is able to offer deep discounts this year like: children and teen program fees waived; 50% children and teen meals covered; more scholarships available to families and teens. This is the year to bring your family to the Gathering in (relatively) nearby Grinnell IA, June 30 – July 6! Financial help might be available to MFMers who wish to attend the clerking workshop. Northern Yearly Meeting’s annual session, “Spirit-Led Communication” will be at Wisconsin Lions Camp near Rosholt, WI Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-27.
