10:15 – 11:00 As a follow-up to the earlier program, What Brought You to Meeting?, today is designed to build community through sharing what at MFM inspires us and allowing us to hear about what is important to others. Keitha Herron and Jim Lovestar will lead the discussion.

Copies of the recently approved committee list are on the elevator table. Please pick one up for reference. If the work of a committee interests you, don’t wait to be asked to serve on it! Contact the committee clerk to visit a committee meeting or to share your curiosity. Many committees would welcome the interest! Ministry and Counsel Committee and Trustees have closed meetings due to confidentiality issues – but Friends are still invited to speak to those clerks to find out more!
UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
The meeting’s fiscal year ends March 31. If you have outstanding reimbursements, please submit them to your committee clerk so they can be okayed and paid.
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Read All About It! Learn more about the MFM library and how it works, hear about some books we love, share your book recommendations, and even sing a library song with Dave Bostrom, Susan Hoch, and Mary Logue.
Minneapolis Meeting is hosting the Northern Yearly Meeting high school retreat, Quaker Branches, April 5-7. Kindly Adult Presences are sought: one for overnight Fri; two for Sat until 6 PM; one Sun morning 8–9 AM. If you have been cleared to work with children at MFM, please consider spending time with the NYM teens so they can spend time with each other! Quaker Earthcare Witness is coming to the Twin Cities! MFM is co-hosting the QEW Steering Committee’s semi-annual meeting from April 11-14.
– Save the evenings of April 12th and 13th when local Friends will host potluck dinners and plenary sessions: Fri night at
Twin Cities Meeting with Friends School of MN presenting on Protecting Pollinators; Sat night at Minneapolis Meeting with a Transition Town panel presenting. If you can help with the nuts and bolts of the potluck or commit to bringing a hearty (vegetarian) main dish, please let Carolyn know.

OTHER HAPPENINGS AMONG QUAKERS
The first edition of the Northern Yearly Meeting Journal came out at the end of February. Two copies are posted and it is available online here.
Northern Yearly Meeting’s annual session, “Spirit-Led Communication” will be at Wisconsin Lions Camp near Rosholt, WI Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-27. Programming for infants – high school, with many opportunities for worship, discussion, education and play for everyone through the weekend. Registration starts at the end of March. Workshop proposals (prepared presentation and discussion) sought; deadline, April 20th. Email proposals to the office (office(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)minneapolisfriends.org) and they will be passed along to the workshop coordinator. Sign-up to lead an interest group (a less formal discussion and information session,) at check-in. Two El Salvadoran Friends School heads and one teacher will be coming. Translators needed. Iowa Yearly Meeting’s Mid-year Meeting, Living Faithful Lives, will be next weekend, March 30-31 at Bear Creek Meetinghouse near Earlham, IA. More info is posted on the bulletin board and online here.
From Friends for a NonViolent World: Appropriations bill is forming; congresspeople are putting in their requests. Please tell your representatives to start funding nonviolent approaches to conflict; specifically, “include financial support for Unarmed Civilian Protection in the FY2020 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs appropriations bill.” You can find your representatives’ contact info here; and talking points here.
The Quaker Parenting Initiative: Support for the spiritual journey of child-rearing. Explore how a uniquely Quaker approach to childrearing can help Friends frame parenting as part of their Quaker spiritual journey. QPI offers a query-based approach for sorting out parenting challenges by applying one’s deepest hopes and convictions to them. Harriet Heath from Schoodish Meeting, (NEYM) facilitator. Winyan Awanyankapi: Protecting the Lifegivers. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Indigenous Peoples Sovereignty of Housing and Water. A conference designed and led by indigenous women. All welcome. Keynotes by Justice Ann McKeig, first Native American to serve on the MN Supreme Court, and Patina Park, Executive Director, MN Indian Women’s Resource Center; play by Native youth, Anishinaabe water ceremony, break-out sessions, and meals by Indigenous caterers.
