MEETING SCHEDULE AND PROGRAM
TODAY
10:00 – 11:00 meeting for worship (semi-programmed): Gib Pellet, speaker; Dave Bostrom, musician; care of meeting, Clifford Goltz and Roland Barrett; Ellen Swanson (mic)
“Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.” Luke 9:48
Quaker Etiquette Reminder from Silence and Speech by Richard Allen: It is best to arrive in an unhurried way somewhat before the stated time of worship, and not talk much outside, but go in and sit down in silence. The meeting actually begins when the first person enters the meetingroom and begins to go inward. If you are entering the meetingroom and people have begun to gather, you are entering a meeting for worship that is already in progress.
Take advantage of the lazy, hazy days of summer and linger for a nibble and brief visit today after worship. Hosts are Judith and Annette.
UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
You are welcome at the potluck at the rise of worship next Sunday! Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows plan to visit for worship and stay to eat. Bring lots of food and goodly amounts of curiosity about their hopes and work for this year!
There will be a called meeting regarding next steps in our Meeting transition on Sat, Sept 8th, from 1 – 4, here at the meetinghouse. There will be time for worship sharing about our joys and concerns regarding the state of the Meeting and ample time to worshipfully consider our next steps. Please plan to attend.
Diagnosed Body, Diagnosed Earth: Walking Cheerfully Anyway THIS WED: Ranae Hanson will read stories from her manuscript about the overlapping concerns of diabetes (the number one global health challenge) and climate change (a major threat to ecosystem survival). She will welcome participants to join in both personal and group response activities. Sponsored by the Peace and Social Concerns, this two-hour workshop will focus especially on economic justice aspects of body and earth troubles and on the ways that we can find joy along our paths, even in dire times.
