10:15 – 11:00 Did you know that Friends’ religious education (RE) is for all ages, not just children? Mary Snyder, former clerk of the Friends General Conference Religious Education Committee, curriculum developer, and teacher, will introduce us to the latest RE resources being used among Friends.
11:15 – 12:15 meeting for worship (semi-programmed): intergenerational worship with first day school youth; Dave Bostrom, musician; care of meeting, Joanne Esser; Sue Kearns (mic)
Quaker Etiquette reminder: Settling into worship – stilling the busy-ness in our minds – can be challenging, especially for second worship when the day is less fresh. Please use the hallways and foyer for greetings and bits of business during the 11:00 – 11:15 transition, allowing the meetingroom to become quiet and still, ready for worship.

UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Terry Kayser went to Nepal for the Alternatives to Violence Project International meeting this past year. Terry will share some of his experiences and visuals from that trip. AVP was developed by Quakers in 1975 and uses Quaker principles as the foundation of the program.
on May 20th at 10:15: Jacque Wiersma and Ken Solberg will share some of their reflections about their trip to Myanmar with the Nonviolent Peaceforce (nvpf.org) where they met with some of the peacekeepers in the 60-year conflict and worked with the Nonviolent Peaceforce’s efforts to facilitate enforcement of the current ceasefire agreement.
Loaves and Fishes TOMORROW! Help area Friends serve dinner to the people of the Phillips neighborhood at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Av. S, Mpls. Please help if you have a few hours between 1:30pm and 7pm that day. Volunteers sign up for shifts: chopping veggies or prepping dessert fruit 1:30 4:30pm; serving food 4:45 6:30pm; clean up 5:30 7pm. Fresh fruit donations for dessert are needed, too. Sign-up near the bulletins.
First Day School and the school year worship schedule end on May 20th. The summer schedule, one worship at 10, will begin May 27th: unprogrammed worship on first and third Sundays; semi-programmed worship on second and fourth Sundays.
Register for Northern Yearly Meeting by May 1! NYM annual session, Hands on Justice: working for a non-violent and restorative justice system in our communities, is over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25 – 28, at the Lion’s Camp near Rosholt, WI. Be challenged and fed by plenary presenter, Jenn Hamrick from Friends for a Nonviolent World, along with the usual mix of reflection, worship, relaxation and camp fun. First-time attenders get the Newbie discount of 20%. Register by May 1 to avoid the late fee. You may write yourself a scholarship as needed.
Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows will be arriving this September! Donations are being sought to furnish the house. Minneapolis Friends may contact Carolyn if you have items for the kitchen (or kitchenette). OTHER HAPPENINGS AMONG QUAKERS
First Monday Friends (not just for Old Friends anymore!), a monthly gathering of area Friends at midday on first Mondays, is organizing a special welcome for all adult Friends on Mon, May 7, noon- 2. Potluck at noon; 1:00 program at Twin Cities Meeting (1725 Grand Ave, St. Paul). The program, Creativity Among Friends, will have 12 volunteers playing/singing music, reciting a poem, showing a painting or knitting project…your favorite method of self-expression. Call Raquel if you’d like to share your creativity for 5 minutes on the 7th. Talk to Jim for more or simply attend May 7!

Come hear the fruits of our hospitality! The SW Community Choir will have Family & Friends concert at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on Thursday, May 24 at 7pm. Minneapolis Friends are welcome to attend.
Mayim Rabim member, Deborah Schein, will speak on her theory of child spiritual development as a system that begins with love and can lead to a strong sense of self, ignite wonder and learning, and allow for the emergence of empathy TODAY, 3-4:30 here at the meetinghouse. Free and open to the public.
MN Council of Churches and Healing Minnesota Stories once again offer Sacred Sites Tour: May 19, 10:00am – 2:00pm; Church of St. Peter, St. Paul. Tours led by Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Bob Klanderud (Dakota). Learn about MN history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence/meditation/reflection. The Muslim American Society of Minnesota along with MN Council of Churches are coordinating Iftar dinners for Ramadan. Simply register for your desired date and location. Some over 60s in the Twin Cities want to form a group of European-American elders to join the Pipeline 3 expansion and tar sands oil resistance.
