Newcomers as well as not-so-newcomers are encouraged to come share what is important to you and learn how to better support one another. Facilitated by the Welcoming and Outreach Committee.

Quaker Etiquette reminder: Settling into worship – stilling the busy-ness in our minds – can be challenging, especially for second worship when the day is less fresh. Please use the hallways and foyer for greetings and bits of business during the 11:00 – 11:15 transition, allowing the meetingroom to become quiet and still, ready for worship.
UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Did you know that Friends’ religious education (RE) is for all ages, not just children? Mary Snyder, former clerk of the Friends General Conference Religious Education Committee, curriculum developer, and teacher, will introduce us to the latest RE resources being used among Friends. Parents, teachers, everyone is encouraged to attend!
Loaves and Fishes: Monday, April 30th is the next opportunity for MFM to help serve dinner to the people of the Phillips neighborhood at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Av. S, Mpls. Please help if you have a few hours between 1:30pm and 7pm that day. Volunteers sign up for shifts: chopping veggies or prepping dessert fruit 1:30-4:30pm; serving food 4:45-6:30pm; clean up 5:30-7pm. Fresh fruit donations for dessert are needed, too. Sign-up near the bulletins.
Register for Northern Yearly Meeting now through May 1! NYM annual session, Hands on Justice: working for a non-violent and restorative justice system in our communities, is over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25 – 28, at the Lion’s Camp near Rosholt, WI. Be challenged and fed by plenary presenter, Jenn Hamrick from Friends for a Nonviolent World, along with the usual mix of reflection, worship, relaxation and camp fun. Information and registration: fgcquaker.org/cloud/northern-yearly-meeting . Everyone is encouraged to register online. First-time attenders get the Newbie discount of 20%. Register by May 1 to avoid the late fee. You may write yourself a scholarship as needed.
Northern Yearly Meeting Annual Session Workshop Proposals: If you would like to present a workshop during the Sat or Sun workshop times, please send your proposal to Lauren by April 25th. Workshops are formal presentations that usually include questions or group participation and are limited in number. Selected workshop leaders will be notified by May 1st. Interest groups are less formal gatherings that are organized at the session.
Read Out of the Silence: Quaker Perspectives on Pastoral Care and Counseling at the Watson reading group Tues, May 8th at 7 PM in the conference room. No need to read ahead – we’ll read together! One-timers and regulars – everyone is welcome!

Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows will be arriving this September! There might be a need for a car for one of the placements. If you have a reliable car you might wish to donate, please contact Tom, Ed, Lin, or Judith.

REMINDER: Friends for a NonViolent World has moved! Its new address is 393 Dunlap Street, Suite 307, St. Paul 55104.
A free, five-week online course on the early history of Quakers – what lies at the heart of Quaker beginnings; the main characters; and how, in the summer of 1652, the Quaker movement was formed in the north of England – starts April 30. First Monday Friends (not just for Old Friends anymore!), a monthly gathering of area Friends at midday on first Mondays, is organizing a special welcome for all adult Friends on Mon, May 7, noon- 2. Potluck at noon; 1:00 program at Twin Cities Meeting (1725 Grand Ave, St. Paul). The program, Creativity Among Friends, will have 12 volunteers playing/singing music, reciting a poem, showing a painting or knitting project…your favorite method of self-expression. Mayim Rabim member, Deborah Schein, will speak on her theory of child spiritual development as a system that begins with love and can lead to a strong sense of self, ignite wonder and learning, and allow for the emergence of empathy on Sunday, April 29, 3-4:30 here at the meetinghouse. Free and open to the public.
MN Council of Churches and Healing Minnesota Stories once again offer Sacred Sites Tour: April 28, 10:00am – 2:00pm and May 19, 10:00am – 2:00pm; Church of St. Peter, Saint Paul Tours led by Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Bob Klanderud (Dakota). Learn about MN history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence/meditation/reflection. More at spinterfaith.org
