Mid-Morning Program next Sunday at 10:15: Have fun across the generations! All ages – come for an intergenerational activity.

Spend Thanksgiving among F(f)riends at a planned potluck, here at Minneapolis Meeting THIS THURSDAY. Worship at 3:30, set-up at 4, eating at 4:30, and clean-up and games after! Come for one, two or all parts of the celebration. A sign-up sheet is on the elevator table. Questions, call Jim.

The Envelope Gift is a one-time contribution, outside the general budget, that the Meeting makes to selected organizations. The Peace and Social Concerns Committee receives nominations from members and attenders and makes recipient recommendation(s) to monthly meeting for approval. Friends make contributions to the gift through December. Please send your nominations to Roland or Debbie or put them in the Envelope Gift file of the blue box. Include the organization’s name, address, and description of work.

Ride Share for Minneapolis Meeting: Are you willing to provide a ride to worship or other Meeting events to another, occasionally or regularly? The weather is cooling and that means Quaker thoughts turn to . . . the Friends for a NonViolent World Holiday Fair! Minneapolis Meeting is again the site for this annual community event / fundraiser Dec 1st (1-9 ) and Dec 2nd (10-4). There’s still time to craft items, cull through your personal library for donations to the book loft sale, plan baked goods to sell or for the Friendly Café, and block out time to help with set-up, staffing the fair, or cleaning up afterward!

BOOK DONATIONS are being collected at the FNVW office, 1050 Selby Avenue, St. Paul.

Bring CRAFT and CANNED /DURABLE GOODS DONATIONS to MFM Wed, and Thurs, Nov 29 and 30.

Ask at your favorite store, bakery, place of entertainment or service about donating a certificate for the VALUES BOARD

The use of the microphone in meeting for worship enables vocal ministry to be heard and held by all present. Microphone
carriers are needed. Please consider signing up with Joanne, Clifford, or Carol to provide this limited-in-scope but very important service to the Meeting.

Joining the MFM Google Group is one of the easy ways be engaged with the Meeting. It is also a good tool for committees to communicate with those members who participate. The Twin Cities Women’s Choir, in which Barbara and Renae sing, will offer a concert Dec 2 at 4:30pm at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ. The concert, Illuminations, celebrates the passing from darkness to light. Tickets available online or at the door.

Earlham School of Religion has been recognized as a Seminary that Changes the World for the fourth year in a row by The Center for Faith and Service, offering innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students seeking to engage in social justice and service work while in seminary!

COMMUNITY EVENTS

There is a MN350 Welcome Event TODAY, 3-5 PM at Butter Bakery Café, 3700 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis Come grab a drink and snack and learn about what MN350 is doing to fight climate change. There are many opportunities for new volunteers to engage! Team leaders will discuss current campaigns, and describe how you can become involved by building on your unique skills and interests. RSVP

Every Church A Peace Church will have its bi-monthly potluck and program at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S, Mpls, TOMORROW, Mon, Nov 20th at 6:30 PM. The program following will feature Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer speaking on The Politics of Economic (In)-Security: A direct result of the United States functioning as a permanent warfare state is unmet domestic economic and social needs. Jack will examine some of the political consequences of economic insecurities that arise from U.S. militarization including the poisoning of our politics, misplaced resentments, the transformation of the Republican Party, the erosion of support for the Democratic Party, and the election of President Trump. He will also explore the many political, social, economic and security benefits that flow from demilitarizing national priorities and building a broad-based social movement committed to a more just and equitable society.

Save the date for the Joint Religious Legislative Committee’s Day on the Hill, March 13, 2018 at Central Presbyterian Church, 500 Cedar Street, St. Paul and the State Capitol.
