Spend Thanksgiving among F(f)riends at a planned potluck, here at Minneapolis Meeting. Worship at 3:30, set-up at 4, eating at 4:30, and clean-up and games after! Come for one, two or all parts of the celebration. A sign-up sheet is on the elevator table or call the office (612-926-6159). Questions, call Jim.

The Envelope Gift is a one-time contribution, outside the general budget, that the Meeting makes to selected organizations. The Peace and Social Concerns Committee receives nominations from members and attenders and makes recipient recommendation(s) to monthly meeting for approval. Friends make contributions to the gift through December. Please send your nominations to Roland or Debbie or put them in the Envelope Gift file of the blue box. Include the organization’s name, address, and description of work.

The Watson reading group will gather at 7 PM THIS Tues, Nov 14th, to read Out of the Silence: Quaker Perspectives on Pastoral Care and Counseling. No need to read ahead or to own the book; read aloud and discuss. One-timers and regulars welcome!

Ride Share for Minneapolis Meeting: Are you willing to provide a ride to worship or other Meeting events to another, occasionally or regularly? Do you need a ride to worship or other Meeting gatherings? If so, contact Scott.

Spread your musical wings and play in semi-programmed worship! Musicians are needed to play a prelude and accompany hymns on third Sundays. Email Barbara if you want to offer the ministry of music, once or regularly.

The weather is cooling and that means Quaker thoughts turn to . . . the Friends for a NonViolent World Holiday Fair! Minneapolis Meeting is again the site for this annual community event / fundraiser on Dec 1st (1-9 ) and Dec 2nd (10-4). There’s still time to craft items, cull through your personal library for donations to the book loft sale, plan baked goods to sell or for the Friendly Café, and block out time to help with set-up, staffing the fair, or cleaning up afterward! This is a lovely opportunity for community, great music, meeting old friends and making new ones, purchasing beautiful crafts as gifts, and enjoying tasty homemade food – all while benefitting FNVW. Lend your talents then bring a friend and enjoy the ambiance! Sign up to help at www.fnvw.org .

Joining the MFM Google Group is one of the easy ways be engaged with the Meeting. It is also a good tool for committees to communicate with those members who participate. Topic materials on the long table are being rotated. Take a look at some of the resources about sanctuary, equality, privilege and racism now displayed.

American Friends Service Committee is offering free webinars to help communities across the country create Sanctuary Everywhere so that refuge from violence and oppression is not needed anywhere. The series offers skill-building and analysis that you can use in your community, from learning how to intervene when you witness public instances of racism and other oppressive violence and harassment to working for sanctuary policies in your school or community. Join AFSC staff, other experts, and community members to learn how everyday people (including you) can keep each other safe. Discuss strategies and approaches for communities to protect targeted groups from state violence—including immigrants, people of color, religious groups, or LGBTQ folks. THIS Thursday, Nov. 16, 7:30 – 9 pm (CT) – Bystander Intervention Training: Learn how to intervene in public instances of racist, anti-Black, anti-Muslim, anti-Trans, and other oppressive interpersonal violence and harassment. There is a Google Group set up for Twin Cities-area Quakers to alert and coordinate with one another about participating in racial justice action. To be added to the list, email Marjorie.
