MEETING SCHEDULE AND PROGRAM

TODAY

9:00 – 10:00 meeting for worship (unprogrammed): care of meeting, Tom Hoey and John Dunham

10:15 – 11:00 Dan Jensen will be sharing the songs he has written based on Pendle Hill Pamphlets. The words are set to familiar tunes, so come ready to sing!

11:15 – 12:15 Adults are invited to go downstairs with Meeting kids after the first hymn for a first day school-generated intergenerational activity, answering the question: What does being Quaker mean to you? For those who want a more traditional worship experience, you may remain upstairs for unprogrammed worship; care of meeting upstairs, Lolly Lijewski

Prepare and serve a Loaves and Fishes dinner with area Quakers TOMORROW at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Av. S, Mpls. Helpers needed to prepare chili, salad, fruit, rolls (at 2pm); serve Phillips neighborhood guests (4:45pm); and clean-up (starting at 5:30pm). Please help! Come share in this service ministry with other Metro Friends. Fresh fruit donations for dessert are needed, too. Costumes welcome! Sign up on the bulletin table.

Mid-Morning Program next Sun at 10:15: introducing the Meeting’s Peace and Social Concerns focus on embracing diversity!

Come participate in an Experiment with Light meditation, based upon early Friends’ experiences with the Light and similar to the ones MFM groups have been practicing over the past year. This particular meditation time will focus on our Meeting and the on-going process of building a blessed community. Gather at 1:45 PM Sat, Nov 4th at the meetinghouse, 2PM start time, ending by 4. For more or if you have questions, contact Diane or Keitha.

Spend Thanksgiving among F(f)riends at a planned potluck, here at Minneapolis Meeting. Worship at 3:30, set-up at 4, eating at 4:30, and clean-up and games after! A sign-up sheet is on the elevator table. Questions, call Jim.

Spread your musical wings and play in semi-programmed worship! Musicians are needed to play a prelude and accompany hymns on third Sundays. Email Barbara if you want to offer the ministry of music, once or regularly.

Wondering if the time is ripe for your inward feeling of connection to Minneapolis Meeting to be outwardly expressed in formal membership? Curious about the membership “process”? Any attender is welcome to talk about membership with a member of the Ministry and Counsel Committee or the Welcoming and Outreach Committee or anyone who’s been around a while! It can be an informal one-on-one conversation or a more intentional request for a clearness committee. There’s a “how to become a member” sheet on the long bulletin board (opposite the nametags). In an effort to make sure members of the Ministry and Counsel Committee are accessible to members and attenders of Meeting, contact information for M&C members is available on the elevator table. Friends are encouraged to keep the list somewhere convenient should you need it.

Thank you to Rick who secured the donation of a new wheelchair to use at the meetinghouse. Friends, young and old, are reminded that the wheelchair is an important tool for those who need it. The old wheelchair’s frame was bent beyond repair.

The Friends for a NonViolent World Holiday Fair is on the horizon! Plan now to volunteer Dec 1-2 and sign up online at www.fnvw.org (there are important opportunities to help with set up before the 1st too!) And of course, it’s never too early to think of what baked or canned goods or crafts you’d like to donate. Be an active part of this community-building event that benefits a great, local, Quaker-inspired organization!

Friends School of MN invites you to its Greatest Gathering and Auction fundraising event THIS Sat, Nov 3, 7-10 PM at the Kagin Commons of Macalester College, 21 Snelling Avenue. This annual gala celebrates the vibrant FSM community and raises money to benefit the scholarship fund, professional development, and annual funding needs. COMMUNITY EVENTS

Mayim Rabim is hosting the Twin Cities premiere of “The Chosen People? A Film about Jewish Identity” TODAY, Oct 29th, 3-5 PM, here at the meetinghouse. Following the film, a panel of five Reconstructionist Rabbis will wrestle with the question: Does the idea of chosen-ness make it harder or easier for Jews to engage in today’s critical dialogues about cultural and religious pluralism, equality, and racism? Friends welcome!
