UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS
Mid-Morning Program next Sunday, October 15th at 10:15: continue the fun and lightness of Fall Together with an activity and sing-a-long!
Ministry and Counsel Committee will meet in the conference room this Thurs. night, Oct 12th, at 7 PM.
Our first ever Fall Together is NEXT WEEKEND! Next Sat, Oct 14th, there will be fun and refreshment at Fish Lake Park! Fall Together is 9am to 9pm, so come when you can and stay as long as you can. (The park opens at 5am, so you’re even welcome to start without the rest of us!) Please check the emailed brochure so you bring everything you need. Fish Lake Park is a zero-waste facility, so remember to bring your re-usable lunch containers, cloth napkin, real utensils, plates, re-usable water bottle, etc. Bring the games and equipment you want to use for play, and perhaps a variety show act to share! Register today (online or use a paper form near the elevator) so that we order enough pizza. (Shh . . . This deadline can be flexible. If you find out you can make it later this week, fill in the online registration or send Wina an email. We will also be happy to see you if you just SHOW UP!) Wear a name tag from work, a convention, the Meeting, or maybe one you make with needlepoint! Next Sun, Oct 15th, we will continue our Fall Together experience here at the meetinghouse with an activity and hymn singing at mid-morning program from 10:15-11:00. Come to either meeting for worship on the 15th to share in the after-glow of Fall Together. See you next weekend!
The Quaker Voluntary Service board will be visiting the area Oct 20th and 21st! Welcome and feed them at a potluck at MFM, 6:30 Fri evening (the 20th) and then attend a getting-to-know-you fun-raiser (live music, food trucks and speakers) on Sat, 4-7 PM at Twin Cities Meeting. Come add your energy and visit with the movers and shakers of QVS! A QVS House will open here in the fall of 2018 with six to eight fellows living, working, and worshiping in the Twin Cities area. More at: QuakerVoluntaryService.org.
The last Loaves & Fishes dinner of the year will be served at Holy Rosary Church, 2424 18th Av. S, Mpls, on Mon, Oct 30th. Volunteers are needed to help with preparation of chili, salad, fruit, rolls (at 2pm); serving food to Phillips’ neighborhood guests (at 4:45pm); and clean-up of dining facility (starting at 5:30pm). Please help if you have a few hours between 2pm and 7pm and share in this service ministry with other Metro Friends. Fresh fruit donations for dessert are needed, too. Costumes welcome! Sign up on the bulletin table.
The Watson reading group will gather Tues, Oct. 17th, at 7 to read Out of the Silence: Quaker Perspectives on Pastoral Care and Counseling. No need to read ahead or to own a copy of the book; read aloud and discuss. You are welcome – whether you’re a one-timer or a regular!
Lunch Bunch will meet at The Gardens, Presbyterian Homes, 10030 Newton Ave So , Bloomington, at 11:45 on Thurs, Oct. 19th. RSVP to Nancy by Tues, Oct 17th. If you are available in the middle of the day, consider coming! It’s a great opportunity to deepen relationships with and bring news to those unable to join worship every Sunday.
In an effort to make sure members of the Ministry and Counsel Committee are accessible to members and attenders of Meeting, M&C members and their contact information have been attached to two recent bulletins. More copies are available on the long table. Friends are encouraged to keep the list somewhere convenient should you need it.
