Minneapolis Friends Fall Together, at Fish Lake Park Oct 14th, is now only 3 weeks away! Almost everyone was sent an email on Sept 6th with a registration link and an attached brochure. First Day School is growing! We rejoice in having children in the fds program, and a growing program means we have an increasing need for teachers! Want to explore the ways you can support the Meeting’s ministry to children? Contact religious education coordinators, Sue or Julia.

SAVE THE DATES Oct 20th and 21st! when the Quaker Voluntary Service board will be visiting the area! Welcome and feed them at a potluck at MFM, 6:30 Fri evening (the 20th) and then attend a getting-to-know-you fun-raiser (live music, food trucks and speakers) on Sat, 4-7 PM at Twin Cities Meeting. Come add your energy and visit with the movers and shakers of QVS! Hosts are sought for visiting board members overnights Fri and Sat and breakfasts on Sat and Sun mornings. Northern Yearly Meeting Fall Interim Session will be held Fri night and Sat, October 6-7, at Cannon Valley Friends Meeting in Northfield, MN. Come gather with Friends, see the new meetinghouse, discern NYM business and hear committee reports in a lovely autumn setting.

Friends Committee on National Legislation’s Quaker Public Policy Institute (QPPI) and Annual Meeting are Nov. 2-5. This has been a challenging year. Friends World Committee for Consultation, Section of the Americas, is organizing a volunteer corps of Spanish- and English-speaking Friends to send as traveling ministers across Yearly Meeting lines and other divisions among Friends in the Americas. FWCC seeks Friends who express concerns that are deeply rooted in the Spirit and who can transcend differences and division to seek broader unity in the Light. Training, support, and accountability provided for those who are chosen. Funding is available to support the travel expenses. First round applications due by Sept 30. COMMUNITY EVENTS

AWAKE, A Dream from Standing Rock” is showing at Casket Cinema Thurs, Oct. 5th. The Water Protectors at Standing Rock captured world attention through their peaceful resistance. While many may know the details, AWAKE, A Dream from Standing Rock captures the story of Native-led defiance that forever changed the fight for clean water, our environment and the future of our planet. The film is a collaboration between Indigenous filmmakers, Director Myron Dewey, Executive Producer Doug Good Feather and environmental Oscar Nominated filmmakers Josh Fox and James Spione. MN Council of Churches offers Sacred Places, Sacred Stories: A Reclamation Journey into Healing and Justice, Oct. 7-9, planned collaboratively by black, Native, white, queer, cisgender, straight, Christian, Jewish, traditional activists, artists, and storytellers from Black Lives Matter, Mpls, the Center for Sustainable Justice, Healing MN Stories, the Kaleo Center for Faith, Justice, and Social Transformation, and MN Interfaith Power and Light. Healing MN Stories Dakota Sacred Sites Tour: October 28, 10:00am – 2:00pm, Church of St. Peter, St. Paul. Visit sites located around confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, what the Dakota refer to as Bdote, or “meeting place of rivers,” including: Fort Snelling State Park, Dakota Internment Camp following the The Dakota-U.S. War, Pilot Knob Hill, a traditional burial ground.
