If you anticipate needing to leave the meetingroom before the close of worship, please sit close to a door to minimize disruption. ALSO, if you arrive before the start of worship, consider leaving seats closest to the doors available to those who join worship late.
You are welcome at the potluck next Sunday following worship! To regulars, bring lots so we can be confident inviting visitors to stay. And label your potluck contribution so those with food sensitivities can participate boldly!
Attending Pat Jones’ Retirement Celebration Sept 10th? Having Lunch? We are pleased that many of you are attending Pat’s retirement celebration, however, we realize not all of you are able to stay for lunch. First Ever Minneapolis Meeting “Fall Together” only 7 weeks away! The documentary, 13th, will be shown at 7PM on Wed, Sept 13th here at the meetinghouse. 13th explores the “intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States.” It is titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which freed the slaves and prohibited slavery (unless as punishment for a crime). 13th has garnered acclaim from film critics and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2016. SAVE THE DATES Oct 20th and 21st! when the Quaker Voluntary Service board will be visiting the area – potlucking it at MFM 6:30 Fri evening (the 20th) and attending a getting-to-know-you blow-out (live music, food trucks and presentations!) on Sat, 4-7 PM at Twin Cities Meeting. Come add your energy and visit with the movers and shakers of QVS! There will be a QVS House opening here in the fall of 2018 with six to eight fellows living, working, and worshiping in the Twin Cities area. For more about QVS, see QuakerVoluntaryService.org.
A memorial service for Marcia Hanson will be held here next Sun, Sept. 3rd at 4 pm. Marcia was wife to Ranae’s brother, Jeff. Friends are welcome.
There will be a table NEXT SUN following worship, to gather support for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, approved by the United Nations on July 7, 2017. The U.S. strongly opposes such a ban. Join other faith/peace organizations and sign a postcard to both Senators Klobuchar and Franken urging them to speak out publicly in favor of the Treaty. A petition will also be available, calling on ALL members of the MN Congressional Delegation to support the Treaty. Women Against Military Madness is collecting the postcards and petitions. Free Postage on every postcard signed after worship next Sunday.

Northern Yearly Meeting seeks a high school youth coordinator, starting Jan, 2018. This is a paid position and duties include: leading retreats; helping students find/participate in new experiences related to spiritual development, service, and leadership; being sensitive and intentional in recognizing the need for some issues to be referred to pastoral or professional care. Friends School of Minnesota invites Friends to an opening-of-the-school-year meeting for worship on Tuesday, Sept. 5th, at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments following. The students would appreciate your presence and support.
Also, save Sat evening, Nov 4th for the annual FSM Gala Silent Auction and Dinner, this year, held at Macalester College.

Pat Jones’ work week is Wed-Sun. She will be in the office Wed. from 1:00-4:00 and other times Wed, Thurs, Fri. and Sat.
Carolyn VandenDolder, the Administrative Assistant, will be in Wed. Thurs, and Fri. afternoons. Bulletin deadline, noon Thur. Bulletin items can be phoned in to the office, emailed, or written and put in the bulletin file of the blue box.
