Friends for a NonViolent World Annual Meeting is TODAY, 1:00 – 3:00PM at Twin Cities Friends Meeting, 1725 Grand Ave, St. Paul. Hear about the new Police and Community Initiative; programming updates from Alternative to Violence Project, People Camp, and Peace Education and Advocacy; meet new board members; and more!

Friends School of Minnesota is having a community worship TODAY, 1:00 – 2:00pm, 1365 Englewood Ave. in St Paul.

UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS

You are welcome at the potluck next Sunday at the rise of semi-programmed worship! Come for good food, good conversation, and some relaxed time with one another. To regulars, bring lots so we can feel confident urging visitors to stay!

Next Sunday at the 10:15 mid-morning program: John Stuart and Mary Jean Port will speak about their spiritual journeys, including their experience with Buddhist practice.

Monthly Meeting approved the formation of a Meeting Google Group at the Oct business meeting. Guidelines can be found at: minneapolisfriends.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Google-Group.pdf; or the “How To” page of the website. To join:
1. Email Roland and ask to be enrolled in the Google Group
2. When you are enrolled, Roland will confirm that you are enrolled and can send messages to those in the Google Group.
3. To send a message, enter mpls-friends-meeting(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)googlegroups.com in the “To” line of your email. On the subject line, type Meeting related, and the subject (e.g. Meeting related – Mid-Morning program, March 5). Then type your message in the text section.

Beyond the Divide will be shown at the meetinghouse on Wed, March 22nd, at 7:00. The film is about a Vietnam veteran and a peace advocate who together forge a path to healing old wounds from the Vietnam era in Missoula, MT. Received the top Showcase Award from the MN/WI Flyway Film Festival and several other awards when released in 2014. A discussion focusing on the ways we might cross today’s political divide will follow. Refreshments will be served.

The Peace and Social Concerns Committee is accepting nominations for recipients of the Meeting’s 2016-17 carbon tax contribution ($1470.00). This contribution is intended for organizations or actions that help off-set our fossil carbon use.

OTHER HAPPENINGS AMONG QUAKERS

Northern Yearly Meeting spring interim session (a gathering of NYM reps from NYM Meetings, presiding clerks, and other interested NYM Friends,) will be March 24-25, in Madison, WI. Mpls Meeting currently does not have a representative. If you would like to go and wish to stay in a home of Madison Friends contact the office (office(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)minneapolisfriends.org) by March 15th. Requests should include whether pet free, stairs-free housing, etc.

Iowa Yearly Meeting will have its mid-year meeting, Quakers and Quaker Schools, on March 25 and 26 in Bear Creek Meeting near Earlham, IA. More about the weekend and registration is posted.

Friends World Committee for Consultation Section of the Americas meeting, Stony Point, NY, March 23-26. Speakers from Pacific, Cuba, and New England Yearly Meetings. Help plan site improvements at Bde Maka Ska (aka Lake Calhoun)! The Mpls Park and Recreation Board has $225K in funding from the Mpls Art in Public Places Program for the site.
