UPCOMING MEETING EVENTS

The draft of a proposed planning process to care for the future of the Meeting is available on the website: minneapolisfriends.org/2015/01/11/care-of-the-future/ Friends are encouraged to take a look and hold the Meeting’s planning process and its future in prayer and reflection. Opportunities for participation along the way are outlined in the draft. Comments and questions for now can be directed to Jeannette, Gayle, Pat or Ranae.

Next week at 10:15: Minneapolis Friends Meeting has two meetings for worship on first day mornings and the twain too-seldom meet. Would you like to get to know folks from the other worship? Or better know the people you worship with? Come for snacks and friendly conversation, gently guided by questions to help us connect. Next Sun, Jan 25th.

Hannah Graf Evans, a Friends Committee on National Legislation program associate, will be speaking here at the meetinghouse on Wed, Jan 28th, at 7 PM. Come hear from this recent Macalester graduate, now contributing to the Quaker lobby effort on Capitol Hill. Doug, MFM’s FCNL liaison, host.

“Instructions and Wishes for Minneapolis Friends Meeting related to end of life” – packets are available on the right-hand side of the long table in the hallway. Pat would be happy to work with you should you want to record your wishes at this time and prefer company in thinking things through.

Would you like to become more deeply involved in the Meeting? The work of the Meeting is largely done by volunteers and mostly through committees. Nominating Committee is now preparing nominations to committee work which will be brought to monthly meeting for business in Feb. To find out more about Meeting committee work, see the brief committee job descriptions (they’re green) on the elevator table or talk to Pat or a member of the Nominating Committee.

The Meeting is seeking a custodian to clean the meetinghouse each week, a paid position – approximately 4 hours of work per week. Interested? Contact Joseph or Ed.

Offering boxes are located on small tables near the meetingroom doors. Please give as you are able. To meet our budget obligations, contributions need to average $2,171 per week. Average weekly contributions from April 1 to Dec 31: $2,129.27. Copies of the budget are on the long table. Thank you, Friends, for your generous support of the Meeting.
