Parents are asked to fill out First Day School registration forms – available on the elevator table (or you can request to be sent one via email). Planning for the school year (which starts NEXT SUNDAY!) is in full gear.
Fall Camp is just around the corner! Fall Camp is a Friendly retreat intended to give our Meeting members and attenders an opportunity to relax and get to know each other in a beautiful setting. We will gather at Villa Maria Retreat and Conference Center in Frontenac, MN, October 18 and 19. Please get your registration in! Villa Maria requires four weeks notice for special dietary requests, (Sept 19th). All registrations all are due by October 3rd in order to secure room assignments. Let’s all fill out our registration forms and return them to the Meeting office right away! This will ensure a smooth process for us and the Villa Maria staff. Encourage each other, invite each other, and come to Camp!

Adult Program at 10:15 next Sunday, Sept 21: Engage in an inquiry into Quaker testimonies – simplicity, equality, peace, integrity . . . What testimonies are you living in response to your experience of God?
The Quaker women’s group will meet this Wed, Sept 17th at Twin Cities Friends Meeting, 12:30 PM. Those who attend will choose the topic. Please bring a mug and finger foods to share. If you wish, bring a bag lunch to eat. Coffee, tea and disposable plates and cutlery will be provided.
Come to story-telling (or story-listening!) this Thurs, Sept 18th, 7:00. Silly or sublime, serious or frivolous, for youngsters and oldsters, those new to Meeting and those who have been around for a while! A great opportunity to know each other anew!
Loaves and Fishes – our next turn is Monday, Sept 29th: Volunteers needed for food prep (2:30-4:30), serving chili and salad (4:45-6:45), and post-meal cleanup (5:30-7:00) as well as donations of nutritious deserts such as fruit, cookies and bars. The most recent Northern Yearly Meeting (NYM) paper newsletter has arrived and is posted on the long bulletin board. Among the many articles is an excellent one on Testimonies (pg 13), a petition to bring ethics to WI mining efforts (pg 3), and an article on the Friendly FolkDancer’s trip to the Congo (pg 6)! Northern Yearly Meeting (NYM) Interim Session, Fri and Sat, Oct 24-25, will be in St. Paul at Twin Cities Friends Meeting. All Friends are encouraged to attend these sessions! Overnight housing is needed from area Quakers, for those coming from afar. Hear preliminary reports offering a glimpse of what NYM is doing and take advantage of the smaller size which makes it easier to mix and get to know people! Friday evening session will be from 7pm – 9pm; Saturday from 9am – 5pm. TCFM will provide simple lunch Saturday. Friday dinner options: some Friends eat en route, others bring food to share, and others go to a local restaurant.
Offering boxes are located on small tables near the meetingroom doors. Please give as you are able.

Eyewitness to War; Witness for Peace will be the talk offered by Kathy Kelly at the Every Church A Peace Church potluck supper meeting tomorrow, Mon, Sept 15th, 6:30 p.m, at St. Joan of Arc, 4537 Third Ave. S. Mpls. Kathy Kelly has participated in demonstrations outside U.S. military bases to protest drone warfare. She has been imprisioned in the past and is currently facing charges as a result. She has traveled, lived and connected extensively in Gaza, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Bosnia and Nicaragua. She and those of Voices for Creative Nonviolence believe that “where you stand determines what you see.”

The next Racial Justice Gathering hosted by American Friend’s Service Committee’s Healing Justice program will be Wed, Oct 22, 5:30-8:30 pm, at the AFSC office, 1671 Summit Avenue, St. Paul. The first gathering identified three areas of interest: convening again for support, insight and coordination; more education about the ways in which systemic / institutional white privilege operates; and development of some action steps. FINDING STRENGTH AND HOPE as We Transition to a Just and More Sustainable Future! This workshop will be Sat, Nov 1st from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm here at the meetinghouse. We will briefly share what we are already doing and then explore our personal and corporate visions for the future. All are welcome!

NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center in North Minneapolis is having its annual fitness event on this Saturday, Sept 13th. There will be a walk, a 5K run or bike ride, healthy food, zumba, line dancing, a kid’s obstacle course! Volunteers are needed! North Minneapolis is a great community – come and have some fun!
